Thumbnail to Colours
Hey thanks for checking out my blog. Today's entry I'll share a bit of the process I go through when creating an image for fun.
This Zero Year inspired pic started pretty loosely. The original sketch was drawn while watching TV on the couch.
The pose of this figure really jumped out at me, so I decided to work with a bit to see what I could come up with. My focus was on the form early on.
I didn't stray too far from the second image of the sketch. I was really happy with the drawing at that point, and my goals from then on were to keep the same energy of the loose drawing whilst at the same time adding details and shading.

FCBD & CCEE Round-up
Over the past couple weeks, I attended the Calgary Comic Con and took part in the FCBD festivites down at Happy Harbor Comics.
The CCEE was pretty insane. I shared a table with the Open Door crew. We promoted our comics and did some sketches. The con had a record turnout. The fact that they had appearences by the orignial Star Trek Enterprise cast, William Shatner and Stan Lee probably played in to this. It was great to see that many people supporting the industry.
The FCBD festivities at HH was pretty cool. I ended up doing lots of sketches for comic book fans. I always enjoy doing this. Besides the fact that it's great to support the comic book fans, it's also great practice. Anyways, here's a few pics from the events, as well as a video from a TV appearence we did on Global TV promoting FCBD.

Superpatriot!
This is a Superpatriot I did a while back, but was recently colored by Ander Zarate. I just wanted to share this piece. You can check out Ander's blog over here. He's a really talented colorist and super nice guy.
On another note, I was recently confirmed as one of the artist for the FCBD festivities to be held at Happy Harbor Comics this May. So make sure you come by and get a free sketch! Freee.
Also, a reminder to check out my Twitter feed. I post many a updates from my residency at the formentioned Happy Harbor Comics. I also post random stuff. Yay for randomness!

Extreme G-Zus Ashcan
So, I released my newest ashcan this past weekend at the Ed Toy & Collectable show . It felt good to release something new. It's been a little while. The ashcan is titled The Adventures of Extreme G-Zus. It's meant as a comedy comic, which should be obvious from the title, I hope. It is my first attempt at a comedic themed comic book story. The ashcan is basically a collection of various contributions I've made to 24hr and 12hr challenges over the past couple years.
A lot of people have been asking me what my inspirations were for the character; Extreme G-Zus, or if he was based on anyone in particualar. Well besides the original Jesus. I kind of got the original inspiration from those energy drinking white dudes from the Harold & Kumar movies. I thought those over-the-top white dudes were hilarious and just a silly concept in general. I wanted to channel that same energy.
To me, the idea of an out-of-touch Jesus figure, trying to reach out to todays youth in an extreme fashion is funny. So I went with it. I didn't do much pre-planning with these stories. They sort of just came to me while staring at a blank sheet of paper, desperately trying to think of ideas. All were done at Happy Harbors comics during their 24hr comic challenges.
Anyways, if you're interested in checking it out, the ashcan will probably be available through Happy Harbor comics shorty. I'm also going to make them available on-line as well as through the store on my website www.inducedcomcs.com .

Update from HH Residency #2
The artist residency has continued to be a positive experience for me. I've done a lot of drawing I normally wouldn't have.
The residency has also been a great opportunity to promote the beautiful medium which is comics books. I've done some great school and library visits during my stay. It's been great.

Playing with ink styles
I've recently been trying to add more depths to my inking technique. I'm trying to do it without going too 90's Image vibe. Even though I love that era.
The first pic is of my character Sabotage. This is for a promo piece I'm creating for the comic; Beast Dominion.
The second pic is of Jack of Spades. He is a character created by a couple fellas named Chase Kantor and Vishaal Rajani.
